Q: Why choose Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is a popular choice for car owners seeking long-term paint protection and enhanced aesthetics. It offers superior durability, hydrophobic properties, and UV protection compared to traditional waxes and sealants. This leads to easier maintenance, a glossier finish, and potentially increased resale value.
Q: Is Ceramic worth it?
Yes, ceramic coating is generally considered a worthwhile investment for car owners in Scotland, due to the harsh weather conditions and the benefits it provides. It offers long-lasting protection against environmental factors like rain, road salt, UV rays, and bird droppings, which can damage a vehicle's paint over time. Additionally, ceramic coatings enhance the car's appearance, making it easier to clean and maintain.
Q: How do you maintain Ceramic Coatings?
Maintaining a ceramic coating involves regular washing with pH-neutral soap, avoiding harsh chemicals and automatic car washes, and using a ceramic coating booster periodically. Protecting the coating from environmental damage like bird droppings and tree sap, and proper drying techniques are also crucial.
At ‘Precision Detail Scotland’ we can offer a ‘Maintenance’ package that can be done here at our Studio or Mobile.
Q: Machine Polishing vs Hand Polishing?
Machine polishing is generally faster, more efficient, and achieves a higher gloss finish compared to hand polishing. However, hand polishing is a viable alternative, particularly for intricate areas or when starting out, as it's more forgiving and less risky for the paint.
Q: Is it safe to use a Machine Polisher on my car?
Machine polishing can be safe for your car's paint if done correctly, but it also carries the risk of damage if not done properly. A dual-action (DA) polisher is generally recommended for beginners due to its lower risk of burning through the clear coat,. However, even with a DA polisher, it's crucial to use the right pads and compounds, work methodically, and be aware of your paint's condition.
That’s why at ‘Precision Detail Scotland’ we are RUPES trained and accredited.
Q: How long will you need to keep my car for?
Depending on what Service Package you choose and the condition of your cars paintwork will determine on how long we will need to keep your car for. This will all be discussed and agreed with you before you book in.
However, on very rare occasions, like any other job, it may take that little longer than expected to get the results we want for you. However you will be notified of this in advance and agree a way forward that suits.
Q: How long should I wait until I wash my car after having a Ceramic Coating?
After applying a ceramic coating, it's recommended to wait at least 7 days before washing your car. This waiting period allows the coating to fully cure and harden, ensuring its durability and protective properties are maximized. Washing too soon can interfere with the curing process.
However using our state of the art INFRATECH IT-6000 heat lamps, the curing time is accelerated whilst providing a stronger durable coating.
Q: Do I need to use any special products to wash my car after having it Ceramic Coated?
After the waiting period, you can perform your first wash. It's best to use a pH-neutral car wash soap and a safe washing method, such as a two-bucket hand wash or a touchless wash, to avoid damage.
We are a Certified CarPro Detailing Center so we are authorised to sell all of their products to you directly from our studio.
